On February 23, local time, Maxar Company announced the satellite cloud image of the ground where the parabolic reflector of the old observatory was removed and cleaned in Arecibo, Puerto Rico.

The Arecibo radio telescope was once known as one of the "two big eyes" of the earth.

In December 2020, the National Science Foundation (NSF) confirmed that all three supporting towers of the Arecibo radio telescope were broken, and the 900-ton receiving platform fell onto the dish-shaped reflector below.
