Before co-presenting "La Daily" on France 5 with Maya Lauqué, Thomas Isle was a television program developer.

He tells Wednesday in "Culture Médias" how he managed, in 2007, to get France Télévisions to land the French adaptation of "Don't forget the lyrics", so that Nagui can present it.

INTERVIEW

Without Thomas Isle, Nagui's program

Don't forget the lyrics

, which has been a hit on France 2 since 2007, would perhaps be presented by Benjamin Castaldi on TF1.

A surprising information that the one who co-presents

La Quotidienne

on France 5, with Maya Lauqué, explains Wednesday in

Culture Médias.

Because, before being a presenter, Thomas Isle was a developer of TV shows.

A job in which he fought, with France Télévisions and Nagui, to obtain the right to adapt the American program

Thomas Isle was already working as a show developer when he was hired by Nagui.

"I started in a company called Freemantle, which does

Questions pour un champion

and

L'amour est dans le pré,

" recalls the presenter of

La Quotidienne

.

"There, I created a show, a dating game called

Take me out

, which was sold in about twenty countries. So Nagui spotted me and made me come. at home at Air Productions. "

"We fought against TF1 who wanted the show"

And as soon as he joined Nagui's company, which was already producing

Taratata,

Thomas Isle spotted an American program that he wanted to have Nagui adapted in France:

Don't forget the lyrics

.

"I told Nagui that there was a great game abroad that combined its two hats: music and play," explains Thomas Isle.

"He loved it right away."

It then remained for Air Productions (which became Banijai Production Media in 2018) and France Télévisions to purchase the right to adapt the game broadcast on Fox for France.

"In September, we fought against TF1 at the International Program Market," said Thomas Isle.

"The channel also wanted to buy the concept of the show for France. It wanted to have it presented by Benjamin Castaldi."

It is ultimately Nagui who manages to get the adaptation, thanks to France 2 which immediately confirms that it will put the program on the air, rather than simply putting an option on it.

begins its broadcast on France 2 in December 2007. Still on the air today, the show is a success of audiences.

A success due, in part, to the flair of Thomas Isle, who does not touch rights on this adaptation.
