Their separation as a couple in the city is at the heart of the record.

The Pirouettes land on their feet.

The pop duo, which was to perform in concert Wednesday at the Trianon in Paris, decided to maintain this date and, due to the health crisis, to transform it into an online show.

Leo Bear Creek and Vickie Chérie explain to

20 Minute

s how they prepared their performance and evoke their latest opus,

Equilibre

, a double album released in early February.

Did you hesitate to postpone your Wednesday concert?

Leo:

We had already rejected it twice because of the Covid-19 and, since the album has just been released, we didn't want to shift.

We thought it had to take place one way or another.

It will therefore be an online capture.

Vickie:

We designed it as a concert with an audience.

The set we are going to do will last an hour.

We shortened it a bit.

There will be a scenography, a lot of lights.

We rearranged some old songs.

We also worked a lot on human performance, that is to say on our movements and the choreography whereas before we were in total freestyle on stage.

There, it will be more staged.

This concert allows you to partly fill your lack of the stage?

L .:

We recently had the experience of a recording for a concert for the benefit of Secours populaire and it is clearly not the same.

You are not stressed before going on stage.

There is no audience so you feel like there is no pressure.

But the moment the cameras roll, the adrenaline rushes.

We recorded everything in one go.

V:

It's cool to do it.

We worked a lot on it.

We need to play it.

But I can't help but be frustrated that there isn't the audience.

People will be at home.

But the feeling is radically different.

Succeeding in getting into the energy without having the audience in front of them, it's quite complicated.

L .:

We have a strong relationship with our audience, especially in Paris.

Each time the concerts are quite grandiose, people sing the lyrics by heart, it's going to make us weird that they're not there.

It will be a real loss, but the exercise is fun.

V .:

It'll be great, but it's a challenge.

When you release an album, it makes you want to go on tour, to see people, their reactions ...

Your third album, "Equilibre" was released in early February.

You conceived it when you were no longer in a relationship: what was the impact of your separation on the creative process?

L:

The separation is at the center of the album, he clearly talks about that.

We have always been very direct in our lyrics, we have always talked about our personal and romantic relationships, and it was fun to continue to do this once we separated.

V:

We no longer proceed in the same way.

It's logic.

The idea was to find a balance so that this album corresponded to us.

We no longer sing in unison, everyone expresses himself, says what he wants to say.

We tried to do it with respect for what the other had to say.

In case of disagreement, is it more complicated to make concessions?

L .:

Balance was our challenge.

Artistically, we very often agree.

It is rare that we are made to listen to things and that the other hates.

When we don't like it, we say it.

As we've been together, we don't necessarily take the tweezers, which can sometimes play tricks on us, but it was not more complicated than on our previous albums.

It is possible to buy a ticket for 10 euros each to watch the Pirouettes concert online
