In the trial of the disappearance of a mother from Munich and her 16-year-old daughter, the woman's husband was sentenced to 14 years and six months in prison for manslaughter in two cases.

The public prosecutor's office had demanded a manslaughter and murder conviction, life imprisonment and the determination of the particular gravity of the guilt.

The search for the two had kept Munich in suspense in the summer of 2019.

Their bodies have not yet been found, the defendant has denied the allegations and demanded an acquittal for himself.

However, the court ruled on Tuesday: "After taking evidence, we are convinced that the two women are dead." The defendant accepted the verdict without moving.
