Can we laugh at everything?

France 2 will schedule a

Laughter Against Racism

evening on March 16

to try to answer this question.

Well-known comedians and beginners will have to take up the challenge, as a prelude to a week of special programming against discrimination on France Télévisions.

The animation of the evening, shot in early February at the Cirque d'Hiver in Paris, was entrusted to comedians Nadège Beausson-Diagne, Donel Jack'sman and Jean-Luc Lemoine, France 2 said in a press release on Tuesday.

Broadcast in the first part of the evening, the program, placed "under the sign of laughter together and freedom of expression", is produced in partnership with SOS Racisme and the Union of Jewish Students of France (UEJF).

Unpublished sketches

On the program, new sketches from shows by 20 comedians including Elie Semoun, Artus, Nadia Roz, Michel Boujenah, Daniel Levy, Marc-Antoine Le Bret, Redouane Bougheraba, Oldelaf & Alain Berthier or Les Coquettes.

France Télévisions had already broadcast several editions of this show, between 2009 and 2014 then in 2015, and this new show was in the making "for a long time" but could not be held last year because of confinement, said Arnaud Ngatcha , director of special operations at France Télévisions.

It "aims to bring, through humor, the largest number of viewers to be sensitized" to the fight against discrimination, he continued.

The show, designed to be "as popular as possible", will be the first part of a special week of programming dedicated to the fight against racism and anti-Semitism on the various antennas - television and Internet - of France Télévisions.

Reports, testimonials and guests on set all week

The humorous evening will be followed by the documentary

He was a faith in the west… of Africa

by Romain Potocki devoted to the history of a place in Porto-Novo in Benin on which the boules players gather around the pétanque of different religions, ethnicities and social classes.

In line with entertainment, the shows

Noire

 by Tania de Montaigne and

The young black with the sword

by Abd Al Malik will be broadcast on France 5 on the evening of March 19.

The Lumni edutainment platform will also be mobilized, in cooperation with the interministerial delegation for the fight against racism and anti-Semitism, through the publication of content to make young people aware of these questions and of “republican values”.

Finally, the news editions of France 2, France 3, the franceinfo channel and the franceinfo.fr news site will present reports, testimonials and guests on stage throughout the week.
