This is the end of a great adventure on France 3. As announced in

Télé Loisirs

Anne Holmès, director of the fiction of France Télévisions, the chain will end two of its series:

Commissioner Magellan

e

t Mongeville

.

The reason ?

The fear of routine.

“The problem with the fiction of France 3 is a problem for the rich.

We have too many things that are working.

But, at some point, if we don't launch new fictions, we will purr.

We have to renew ourselves, ”she explains.

It is therefore time to make choices.

“To launch new products, you need space,” she continues.

There are only 52 Saturdays a year, so I have to stop series that are ten years old, even if they are a hit.

The real problem is there.

That doesn't make me happy, but if, in this box, there are

Mongeville, Magellan, Cassandre, des Meurtres à

…, I can't throw anything.

Top audiences

If France 3 probably has new quality dramas in store for us, the channel is separating from two successful series.

As reported by the Puremédias site, the unprecedented episode of

Commissioner Magellan

(played since 2009 by Jacques Spiesser), broadcast on October 17, 2020, attracted more than 4.67 million viewers.

For its part,

Mongeville

(which has been following the adventures of judge Antoine Mongeville played by Francis Perrin since 2013), brought together more than 5.07 million viewers facing the

Mask Singer

final

in November.

These two series were also formidable adversaries for the big entertainment shows of TF1 and France 2, and it was not uncommon for them to steal the show.
