Big media day for the royal family on March 7.

The BBC will broadcast a message from Queen Elisabeth II marking Commonwealth Day, hours before the broadcast in the United States of a much-awaited confession interview given by Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle.

The program on the BBC will replace the celebration of the traditional religious service originally scheduled for March 8 at Westminster Abbey, canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This celebration of Commonwealth Day, an organization of 54 states with a population of 2.4 billion, has been held since 1972 in the building in the heart of London.

"Instead, Her Majesty The Queen will share her traditional message in 'A Celebration of Commonweath Day' which will be broadcast on Sunday March 7 on BBC One," the abbey announced on Monday on its website.

Harry and Meghan will empty their bag

It is also on March 7 that an event interview with the grandson of the queen and his wife Meghan Markle by the American star of the confession, Oprah Winfrey, is to be broadcast.

Their explanations of their decision to withdraw from the monarchy and their new life away from the crown are eagerly awaited by royal chroniclers.

Several interviews with members of the British royal family have had disastrous consequences for the image of the crown, such as that of Princess Diana in 1995 or that of Prince Andrew in 2019.

The couple, who are expecting their second child, have been criticized in recent days for their angry response to the Queen's decision to withdraw military titles (for Harry) and patronage.

According to relatives of Prince William quoted in the press, the elder brother of Prince Harry believes that the couple was disrespectful, even insulting towards the queen by retorting wanting to continue to offer support to the various organizations because "the service is universal" , official role or not.
