The health authorities in Germany
reported
4369
new corona infections to
the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day
.
In addition,
62
more deaths were recorded
within 24 hours
.
That comes from the numbers of the RKI from Monday.
Exactly one week ago, the RKI had recorded
4426
new infections and
116
new deaths
within one day
.
On Monday, the number of cases reported by the RKI is usually lower, among other things because fewer tests are carried out on the weekend.

Thuringia
remains hardest hit, where the incidence of 126 is more than twice as high as the national average, and the trend is still increasing.
A good week ago, the incidence value in Thuringia had fallen below the value of 100 for a long time, but has been rising again since then.
The Free State is the only federal state with an incidence over 100. Nevertheless, since Friday there have been easing of the previous corona containment rules for hairdressers, gardeners, elementary school children and kindergarten children.
Schools and daycare centers in those districts with more than 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days are excluded.
These are currently the districts of Schmalkalden-Meiningen (241) and Unstrut-Hainich-Kreis (207.4).
Saxony-Anhalt
(90) and
Saxony
(75)
are also affected above average
.
The two most affected districts of Tirschenreuth (353.9) and Wunsiedel in the Fichtelgebirge (309.7) are in Bavaria, on the border with the Czech Republic.
These are the only counties currently with an incidence over 300.
Only two federal states,
Baden-Württemberg
(44) and
Saarland
(45)
were below an incidence value of 50 on Monday
, which, however, had not transmitted any data on Sunday due to technical problems.
It looks better at the district level: 177 urban and rural districts report incidences below 50, of which 71 districts are below the limit value of 35.

According to the RKI management report from Monday evening, the
nationwide
seven-day R-value
was
1.05
(previous day 1.10).
This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 105 more people.
The value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago.
If it is below 1 for a long time, the infection process subsides.
Corona in Europe

Corona worldwide

On this Monday, the
USA is
likely to cross
the sad threshold of half a million corona deaths.
On Monday, the US epidemic agency CDC said the number of deaths related to the coronavirus was
497,415
- more than in any other country in the world.
The US government announced that flags would be hoisted at half-mast for five days to commemorate the nearly 500,000 dead.
President Joe Biden will order this as part of a memorial service on the occasion of the "sad milestone" on Monday evening (local time), said his spokeswoman Jen Psaki at a press conference in the White House.
