Shortly before the start of Black Sabbath's big farewell tour, doctors diagnosed Tony Iommi with lymphatic cancer.

They removed a tumor from the throat, after which the guitarist and his band went around the world.

He announced that he would die on stage.

But the tour ended long ago and the diagnosis was eight years ago.

WELT AM SONNTAG:

Tony, may I ask how your health is?

Tony Iommi:

Thanks, I am fine given the circumstances.

I go to my exams regularly.

This is not easy at the moment due to the pandemic, because I have to go to the hospital for it and the clinics in England are very full at the moment.

But I feel fine, thank you for asking about it.

WELT AM SONNTAG:

Do you have any prospects of a cure?

Iommi:

My doctor and I just take it every day.
