Glue hunting posts were destroyed overnight -

Mathilde Ceilles / 20 Minutes

  • A dozen slime and thrush shooting stations were destroyed in a single night at the end of last week on the heights of Marseille.

  • The hunters are exasperated, and demand imminent government intervention, at the risk of "making the police" themselves.

"It is a real commando, plague Eric Camoin.

Several of them came here, scouting, then destroying everything on a full moon night!

A dozen positions of slime hunting and shooting facilities were ransacked in a single night on the heights of Marseille and its surroundings at the end of last week.

Fifteen days earlier, similar destruction was recorded in Vaucluse and Var.

Near the destroyed posts, inscriptions dealing with assassin hunters or tags with the logo of the Front for the Liberation of Animals, a group of animal rights activists.

“This is the Xth time that this has happened here is carried away by the president of the national association for the defenses of traditional thrush hunts, who summoned the press to the scene to express his“ fed up ”.

And to assert: “Whether we like these practices or not, that's another debate.

I'm not asking to like the hunt.

Everyone is free to have their own opinions.

But at some point, you can't afford everything, destroy like that.

"

A hunt that causes debate

"Glue hunting is part of our heritage," insists Gérard Guidice, president of the Marignane hunting society.

Here we are in Provence.

By attacking this type of hunting, we are attacking our culture!

“Practiced mainly in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, glue hunting is in fact regularly denounced by environmentalists and animal rights activists.

At the end of August, Emmanuel Macron has indeed decided to suspend for this season the hunting of glue that environmentalists and defenders of birds denounce.

With this gesture, he also responded to the injunctions of the European Commission which, at the beginning of July, gave France three months to put an end to this method of non-selective hunting, prohibited by a directive of 2009 except exemption.

"One day, we will fall on them"

“Obviously, there is a link, storm Eric Camoin.

Associations stir up hatred against this practice and small groups behind do the dirty work.

I myself have been threatened with death on social media.

"

And to call for rapid government intervention.

“Now that's enough, there are enough of them.

Do we have to police ourselves?

Complaints, we have filed.

The gendarmes and police do not even move.

We do not care.

We take complaints and we file them.

We can't go on like this.

"

“One day, we will come across them, says a hunter from Marseille who prefers to remain anonymous.

We will know.

We manage to hunt any type of animal, so we're going to have them!

It is not a death threat, but a warning ... "" There is going to be a tragedy, worries Eric Camoin.

There is going to be a catastrophe, because sooner or later, we will find them.

We will not give up and we will come to know who it is.

If a hunter comes across a guy destroying a post, I don't know what the guy's reaction will be!

»Complaints will be lodged in the week by the president of the hunting society of Château-Gombert, in Marseille, and the president of the hunting society of Plan-de-Cuques.
