Actress Gina Carano -

Last week, Lucasfilm made public the ouster of Gina Carano from

The Mandalorian

on Twitter and it was on the network that the actress learned the news like everyone else.

A decision motivated by the recent exit of the former MMA champion, having compared, in a TikTok post, the fate of American conservatives to that of Jews under the Nazi regime.

Remarks qualified as “odious and unacceptable” by the studios already embarrassed on several occasions by the actress.

Since then, Gina Carano has had the opportunity to respond in an interview with Bari Weiss, former columnist for the

New York Times

who slammed the door of the prestigious daily last summer while denouncing the censorship that would reign within the editorial staff.

Irreconcilable

In this interview, Gina Carano presents herself as the victim of the climate of oppression that her political camp would suffer.

She claims she was kicked out of

Disney's

promotion of

The Mandalorian

several months ago for refusing to issue a pre-written apology for another transphobic tweet, dating back to last September.

“Earlier last year, before the release of (Season 2 of)

The Mandalorian

, they wanted me to apologize for my use of pronouns using their exact words.

I declined and published a statement in my own words, ”said the actress during the same interview, complaining about having resisted pressure from her ex-employer.

But beyond the debate on cancel culture in Hollywood, it is difficult to see how Disney could have reconciled its family image with the positions of the actress other than showing her the door.
