Winning government excellence awards is a beautiful thing, and it is a source of pride, pride and joy for every participant who wins any of its categories, whether at the level of employees, or at the level of work teams and various departments, or at the level of local departments, or federal ministries.

But there is a dividing line that must be paid attention to, and strongly, because it separates the positive and usefulness of government excellence awards in developing government services and advancing them, and some of their negatives, and this thread is to know the goal and the means and differentiate between them.

Winning a prize cannot be considered a goal in itself. Rather, it is a means to reach a greater, higher and more important goal. This goal is to develop service for the citizen and resident, service to society and the country, in addition to developing government work in institutions and agencies, in a way that reflects the progress and development of the state, and ensuring its superiority. In the services sector at the Arab, regional and global levels as well.

No one disputes the importance of the Government Excellence Award, and its important role during the past years in making a qualitative leap in the concept of excellence and customer service and seeking to gain their satisfaction, and providing an internal work environment that stimulates production, to ensure the comfort of employees and increase their giving, and no one denies its role in creating innovations. Many innovations enhance government work and facilitate the provision of services in a prominent and noticeable way.

But to ensure the continuity of the Excellence Awards in support of this supreme goal, we must now reformulate them so that they do not deviate from this path, and go to another path, which is a show path, in which there is a lot of exaggerated spending on consulting companies and expert houses, and on formal matters working to create Special business models only for participation in the award, which are compatible with the theoretical and paper judging mechanism, and may not at all correspond to the reality on the ground!

Thus, the main and main goal has turned into the goal of winning the award only, regardless of the reflection of this victory on actually developing the business, providing real easy and distinctive service to customers, or taking into account employee satisfaction and ensuring increased productivity with incentives and encouragement!

There must be an accurate equation that controls all this, and adjusts the effort, time, budgets and the cost of the full-time employees to submit the award files, in addition to their impact on the cost of working hours for the rest of the employees by occupying them in the application files.

There must be a new mechanism that enables us in the end to measure the extent, impact and proportionality of the final cost of participating in the prizes with the data of the current situation, verifying the extent of the reflection of winning the award on the development of actual field work, and most importantly, verifying that participation in the award reflects hard work and field success On the ground, he contributed to the development of services and the benefit of customers, and it was not just a theoretical profile written with great care just to reassure the arbitration committees and to fulfill the conditions for participation, and then win!
