This is not a big surprise, but it is now definitive: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirm that they will not resume their functions within the royal family of England.

After the “Megxit” announcement in February 2020, the couple entered what had been described as a 12-month “trial period” for their new life away from royalty.

And it would seem that the situation is fine for them, as Prince Harry has announced to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, that they will not be returning.

"Honorary military appointments and royal patronages held by the Duke and Duchess will therefore be returned to Her Majesty, before being redistributed among the active members of the Royal Family", reads a statement from Buckingham Palace, which reveals that the entire royal family remains saddened by this decision.

New life

If they had maintained some links with their royal patronages and the foundations they supported despite their departure from England, Meghan and Harry have already reinvented themselves in the United States, where they have settled.

They not only set up their own foundation, called Archewell, and more importantly they signed a contract (the amount of which has not been disclosed) with Netflix to produce content.

They also announced the creation of a podcast for Spotify, through their audio production company, Archewell Audio.

'As evidenced by their work over the past year, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service in the UK and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organizations that they represented, whatever their official role.

We can all live a life of service.

The service is universal, ”assured a spokesperson for the couple, relayed by ET Online.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who also revealed they are expecting a second child, are expected to detail their plans for the future in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

It will be a 90-minute prime time titled

Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special

, broadcast as its title indicates on CBS on March 7.
