Singer-songwriter Philippe Chatel, creator of the famous musical tale

Emilie Jolie

, has died in Paris at the age of 72, his family announced on Friday.

"My father died last night of a heart attack, at his home in Paris," said his daughter, Emilie, to whom was dedicated this world-famous musical tale, created in 1979 and which was the subject of several versions in forty years.

First a record, the tale was then put on a show and had become a benchmark in the category of musicals for children.

A solid bestseller

The original version (1979) had benefited from the complicity of artists such as Georges Brassens, Julien Clerc, Henri Salvador, Françoise Hardy, Eddy Mitchell, Alain Souchon, Laurent Voulzy, Sylvie Vartan etc.

The record accompanied the young years of many toddlers, registering as a solid bestseller.

Each version (1997, 2002, 2018) incorporated new artists (Alain Bashung, Jacques Dutronc, Zazie, Axelle Red for example in 1997).

A new tour of the show was scheduled, said the artist's brother Thibault Chatel.

"Since its creation, not a week has gone by without my signing authorizations at the SACD [Society of Dramatic Authors and Composers] for others to mount Emilie", declared Philippe Chatel.

"More than 2,500 amateur and semi-amateur shows (schools, dance lessons, music conservatories, etc.) have thus emerged, and it continues ...", he added.
