New Aquitaine Gendarmerie

A vast police and gendarmerie operation was carried out on Wednesday on three traveler's camps in the metropolis of Bordeaux.

It responded to the "strong upsurge, since September 2020, of thefts of metals (copper, brass, catalytic converters) on the Gironde, Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne", indicates the gendarmerie of Nouvelle-Aquitaine on Friday.

Flights which had led, from October 2020, to the creation of a working group entitled Métaux 33, associating the Bordeaux research section and the departmental gendarmerie group of Gironde.

Thefts to the detriment of companies and municipal establishments

A team of criminals was identified as having participated in a series of thefts to the detriment of companies and municipal establishments, and five individuals were arrested and placed in police custody during this raid, which mobilized not far from 180 gendarmes and police, in camps occupied by Romanians, in the municipalities of Bordeaux, Mérignac and Villenave-d'Ornon. 

The defendants are presented to the Bordeaux prosecutor's office this Friday for an immediate appearance before the criminal court, aggravated counts of theft and concealment and participation in a criminal association with a view to preparing for crimes.
