During the Spring Festival, Li Zonggui, a villager in Longjiabian Village, Guangna Town, Tongjiang County, Bazhong City, visited a guest at his home. He turned on the faucet, but there was no water in the water pipe. When he was nearly 80 years old, he only got an old well one kilometer away. Carry water to eat.

About 300 meters away from Li Zonggui’s home, there is a drinking water project invested and constructed by the government. The project was completed in 2017, but for more than three years, local villagers rarely have access to tap water.

"Basically it's a decoration." Some villagers said.

In this regard, Huang Yong, secretary of Longjiabian Village Branch, said frankly that in recent years, as groundwater has dried up, the water supply station in the village has been in a dilemma. The village committee has sent a report to the Water Affairs Bureau of Tongjiang County. After the Spring Festival holiday, it will Adjust measures to local conditions and take a decentralized water supply approach to alleviate local draught problems.

Villagers ask for help

When will the water supply station be able to eat tap water after three years

Longjiabian is located in a traditional high-arid mountainous area, and domestic water has been a problem that has plagued the local area for many years.

In 2016, the construction of a safe drinking water project in the village gave the villagers the hope of saying goodbye to the draught.

For this livelihood project, the villagers put a lot of enthusiasm into it and tried their best to cooperate with all the construction needs. Each household spent 130 yuan to install water meters.

"Just to be like the people in the city, use clean and safe tap water as soon as possible." A villager said.

In 2017, the safe drinking water project was completed. The water supply pipeline went over the mountains and ridges to reach the villagers' homes. Turning on the tap, the white tap water flowed out.

But the good times didn't last long, and Li Zonggui soon discovered that the water pipes were not running.

Since then, this phenomenon has appeared in several other villages. The relevant departments have sent people to conduct on-site inspections. The pumps have also been replaced several times, but the problem has not been resolved.

Reluctantly, the villagers had to continue to collect water from nearby old wells or ask the construction team to find new water sources nearby.

The nearest old well is about one kilometer away from Li Zonggui's house. Because of his age, he can only carry half of the burden each time.

In the past three years, the silver-white water supply pipelines have gradually rusted and the huge water supply projects are not useful. While the villagers feel distressed, they also hope that the relevant parties can face the problem squarely and let it take effect as soon as possible.

The village party secretary stated that groundwater depletion is the main reason for dispersing water supply to solve the problem

On February 18, Huang Yong said in a telephone interview with reporters that the problems reported by the villagers were basically true.

He said that Longjiabian Village has a high altitude and low annual precipitation. Groundwater is the main source of local water.

In 2016, the Tongjiang County Water Affairs Bureau implemented a safe drinking water project in the village. The water supply station was located in the second community with relatively good water sources. After the completion in 2017, some places did use tap water, but after a long period of time, subsequent supplies appeared There are two main reasons for the problem. One is that the head is too high, as high as 200 meters in some places, the pump power is too small, and the water cannot be pumped up. Two pumps have been burned out last year; the second is the depletion of groundwater. This has been especially noticeable since winter.

Huang Yong introduced that the water supply project in Longjiabian Village cost nearly one million yuan, and it is indeed in a state of suspension.

The village committee sent a report to the Water Affairs Bureau of Tongjiang County a year ago, and the Water Affairs Bureau also sent people to check on the spot and gave a preliminary solution: repair and maintain the local old water wells, or find new water sources to solve drinking water by decentralized water supply. Difficult, related work will be carried out immediately after the Spring Festival holiday.
