Saitama Prefecture announced that it has confirmed that one person was newly infected with the mutated coronavirus that spreads in the United Kingdom.

According to Saitama Prefecture, a new infection with the mutant virus was confirmed in boys under the age of 10 living in the prefecture.



The boy developed symptoms late last month and is still hospitalized, but the symptoms are mild.



It also means that he has no history of staying in the UK and has no contact with an unspecified number of people.



Since I was attending a children's facility where the mutant virus infection was announced on the 5th of this month, the number of infections related to this facility has increased to 20.



The prefecture says that it will continue to strengthen monitoring by conducting screening tests as well as checking whether the infection has spread, such as by testing close contacts.



This brings the number of confirmed mutant virus infections to 38 in Saitama Prefecture.
