. Li Zhiying

, a

lawsuit-ridden Hong Kong rioter and founder of "One Media", applied for bail at the Hong Kong High Court at the end of 2020 and was approved. After an appeal from the Department of Justice, the Court of Final Appeal finally ruled that Li Zhiying's bail was revoked.

On February 18, Li Zhiying will go to the High Court to apply for bail. The application will be handled by Peng Baoqin, the designated judge of the Hong Kong National Security Law case, and it is expected to take three hours.

According to Hong Kong’s “Dongwang” report, according to the judgment of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal, Article 42 of the Hong Kong National Security Law has added stricter threshold requirements for bail applications. “Will not continue to endanger national security” is a prerequisite for approving bail. The judge must first Determine that there are sufficient reasons to believe that the applicant will not continue to commit acts that endanger national security.

If, after considering the bail conditions and other relevant information, the judge believes that there is no sufficient reason to believe that the applicant will not continue to commit acts that endanger national security, he should reject his bail application.

The 73-year-old Li Zhiying was charged earlier on suspicion of fraud and the crime of "collaborating with foreign countries or foreign forces to endanger national security" under the Hong Kong National Security Act.

On December 23, 2020, he applied to the Hong Kong High Court for bail in both cases and was approved. The Department of Justice immediately appealed the result to the Court of Final Appeal.

The Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal opened its trial on February 1st and heard the submissions of both parties. It read the verdict on the morning of the 9th. Five judges designated by the Hong Kong National Security Law ruled that the Department of Justice's appeal was successful. Li Zhiying's bail was revoked and must be remanded immediately.

On the afternoon of February 17, the Hong Kong West Kowloon Magistrates' Court opened a trial for a man who conspired Li Zhiying to assist Li Yuxuan’s absconding case. The defendant Chen Zihua was charged by the National Security Office with one crime of “conspiracy to collude with foreign countries or foreign forces to endanger national security” and one crime "Conspiracy to assist a criminal" crime.

The Hong Kong police also arrested Li Zhiying in Stanley Prison on the evening of February 16, suspected of assisting 12 Hong Kong citizens to escape illegally from Hong Kong, the criminal Li Yuxuan, who absconded to Taiwan.

It is reported that Li Yuxuan once participated in the front-line activities of the "Zhongguang Team" formerly known as the "speculation organization". The behind-the-scenes instructors were Li Zhiying, his assistants Mark Herman Simon and Chen Zihua.

In addition to planning crowdfunding of more than 14 million Hong Kong dollars and contacting foreign political parties, the organization has also published articles in the media involving calls for foreign governments to sanction and suppress the Chinese and Hong Kong SAR governments.

Later, when Li Yuxuan absconded, he was given shelter and transportation and was accused of being related to Li Zhiying and others.
