The fashion industry is groaning under the loss of sales during the Corona crisis.

The stationary trade is particularly hard hit - due to the lockdown, many retailers were not even able to sell the winter collections, now they are already receiving the summer goods.

The fashion chain "Adler", which filed for bankruptcy in January, is now to be sold.

Restructuring expert Christian Gerloff is also on board in the negotiations.

The lawyer is one of the most accomplished experts in bankruptcy and reorganization.

He told the magazine "Wirtschaftswoche" how much the industry is suffering from the restrictions.

“It's basically like holding a drowning person underwater and advising him: 'Hold on for another five to ten minutes, but then you can get some real breath again.'

Every additional day of closure hits the company in the marrow and "if the lockdown lasts until Easter, there will be a bloodbath in the industry," said Gerloff.

Gerloff is particularly critical of the fact that companies that have filed for bankruptcy are not allowed to apply for aid from the federal government's third bridging package.

He thinks this regulation is unconstitutional, he told the magazine.

The reason: "The aid should serve as a bridge over the lockdown." This is also important for an insolvent company that is to be continued in another hand.

Adler boss Thomas Freude also believes that bankruptcy would not have happened without lockdown.
