A new project is underway for Canal +.

The channel announced that it was working on a new original creation, loosely inspired

by Sergio Corbucci's

film

Django

in 1966 (which Quentin Tarantino also drew inspiration from for his film of the same name).

Co-produced by Canal, Sky Original, Atlantique Productions and Cattleya, it will be a series of 10 52-minute episodes, directed by Francesca Comencini.

This series which "revisits the western", specifies the press release of the chain, will be notably carried by the actor Matthias Schoenaerts who will play the main role.

Django in search of his daughter

The story will take place in the Far West in the years 1860-70 in the city of New Babylon, built by the couple Sarah and John.

“A city of outcasts, made up of men and women of all origins, races and beliefs, which welcomes everyone with open arms, explains Canal +.

Haunted by the murder of his family eight years earlier, Django continues to search for his daughter, clinging to the hope that she may have survived the massacre.

He is stunned to find her in New Babylon, about to marry John.

But Sarah, now an adult, asks Django to leave, fearing that his presence will endanger New Babylon.

Convinced that the city is threatened, Django is adamant: he will not take the risk of losing his daughter again ”.

If no broadcast date has been communicated for the moment, filming will begin next May.
