  • While a large-scale blackout prevented TF1 from broadcasting its “1 pm” at the appointed time, Julian Bugier, who was presenting the newspaper on France 2 at the same time, smiled and welcomed “new viewers”.

  • "My few words today at the end of the France 2 newspaper were obviously misunderstood," he ended up tweeting.

My apologies to our friends from the TF1 newscast.

  • On social networks, Internet users have had less qualms about having fun with the TF1 misadventure.

"Welcome to our new viewers, many, it seems today" launched, smirk Julian Bugier at the end of his "1 pm" on France 2 this Thursday.

The journalist referred to the historic breakdown that TF1 was experiencing at the same time, compromising the broadcast of Marie-Sophie Lacarrau's news.

If it was finally able to take the air at 13:37, many of its faithful had probably already switched to the newspaper of the second channel.

Julian Bugier's joke has been felt variously on social media.

If some Internet users appreciated the joke, others deplored a lack of fair play.

“My few words today at the end of the France 2 newspaper were obviously misunderstood,” the public service presenter ended up tweeting in the early afternoon.

“It was humor, awkward.

When we are wrong, we have to admit it.

My apologies to our friends of the TF1 newscast, ”he added, taking care to mention Marie-Sophie Lacarrau.

Inspired Internet users

This rather elegant mea-culpa will give food to grind for those who believe that "we can no longer laugh at anything".

May they be reassured: the misadventure encountered by TF1 inspired (more or less well) the winnowers of social networks.

Many had fun imagining the involvement of Jean-Pierre Pernaut in this affair.

“No 1 pm newspaper on TF1 today.

Computer problem.

A suspect would have been seen not far from the studio ”, tweeted a Net surfer adding a photo of the one who presented for more than thirty years, and until last December, the News of the One.

Another posted an image of Jean-Pierre Pernaut with his hand in front of his mouth, accompanied by the comment: “Oops”.

Others preferred to joke about “the technician” of TF1 who would have unplugged the wrong cable to “recharge his laptop” or more generally on his incompetence.

The other big trend was to put oneself in the place of the management of TF1 or that of France 2 reacting to audience curves.

Not sure that many had the heart to laugh about the side of the first channel.
