The National Archives organized a ceremony to honor the winners of the 11th edition of the award, in which a large number of students from public and private schools participated.

For his part, Abdullah Majed Al Ali, Executive Director of the National Archives, said during his speech at the virtual ceremony: “Today we celebrate the fruits of the Young Historian Award, which has proven its distinction in achieving its desired goals,” noting that the award works to consolidate the history and heritage of the UAE in the minds of students. .

He added that «the award yielded a number of serious publications that discussed the history of the late founding leader Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, and in his future visions that our present witnesses embodiment in the hands of our leadership. In the National Archives there are a number of new student researches that have resulted. For his part, the Director of the Research and Knowledge Services Department in the National Archives, Chairman of the Young Historian Committee, Hamad Al-Hamiri, said: “The National Archives paid great attention to the Young Historian Award, increasing its budget at the end of 2019, and a special committee was designated for receiving materials and evaluation, and coordinating with schools. And with strategic partners ».

He continued: “We added new axes that are consistent with the conditions that society lived through with the beginnings of the global spread of the (Corona) pandemic, including: the state’s strategy in combating the (Covid-19) virus pandemic, leadership efforts in addressing the crisis, the effectiveness of the national sterilization program, and research into the history of epidemics. In the UAE and the Arab Gulf region, and how society dealt with it before the establishment of the union, and the benefit that was achieved in the period of national sterilization and social distancing in stimulating family rapprochement and communication with senior citizens, recording and transcribing stories and facts of oral history from narrators and senior citizens in this period.
