On the night of the 17th, at least 10 vehicles were involved in an accident on the Sanyo Expressway in Hofu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, killing one person.

Nearly 100 cars are still stuck due to the accident.

Around 8:30 pm on the 17th, the police were informed that "passenger cars collided with each other" on the up line of the Sanyo Expressway in Hofu City.



According to police, at least two people were taken to the hospital and one of them died in a collision of at least 10 cars, including passenger cars, highway buses and trucks.

No one was injured on the highway bus passengers.



The site is about 1 km from the Sabagawa service area in the direction of Hiroshima, and as of midnight on the 18th, nearly 100 cars are stuck due to the accident.



At 8:30 pm on the 17th, when the accident occurred, the temperature in Hofu City was as low as minus 1.1 degrees Celsius, and a heavy snow warning was issued.
