21 years ago, Kool Savas appeared in German hip-hop with his single "King of Rap".

For many it is still today.

Savas Yurderi, born 1975 in Aachen to a German mother and a Turkish father, who went back to Turkey, was politically active, was in prison and returned to his family in Berlin when Savas was eleven years old.

"Aghori" is the name of his new album.

WORLD:

Did your father agree with your path in life, your career as an artist, right from the start?

Kool Savas:

No.

It was normal for me to buy - or at least want to have - Nikes as a teenager.

He came back to us from prison when I was eleven.

It was normal for him back then to wear sandals that had been on twenty people before him.

The fact that I wanted a hundred marks for a pair of shoes did not go into his head.

WORLD:

How is it today?

Kool Savas:

He had a long history of quarreling with my lifestyle, especially my cars.

I once had a Porsche Cayenne that he absolutely didn't want to drive in.
