Lovato was already struggling with alcohol and drug addiction as a teenager.

She was sober for six years, but relapsed in 2018.

In July of that year, the singer was found unconscious in her Los Angeles home after taking an overdose.

"My doctors gave me another five to 10 minutes," the American singer recalled at the time.

In the documentary, her good friend, actor Matthew Scott Montgomery, argues that Lovato had started on heroin.

"I have crossed a border that I have never passed before", is all Lovato himself says about it.

With the film Lovato hopes to rectify some things from the past 2 years.

"I have a lot to say about it. I've had so many lives. I'm like a cat, this is my ninth life."
