Fayard editions announced on Wednesday that they would publish the French translation of the poems of the young American Amanda Gorman, noticed during the inauguration of President Joe Biden.

The translation used for this title which means "the hill that we are climbing" was not communicated by Fayard.

The translator is the Belgian-Congolese singer Lous and the Yakuza (stage name of Marie-Pierra Kakoma), who was named at the last Victoires de la musique as a female revelation.
Amanda Gorman, 22, from a modest background and Los Angeles, won her first poetry award at age 16, and was crowned with the title of "best young poet" in the country three years later while studying. sociology at the prestigious Harvard University.
It was the president's wife, Jill Biden, who, having seen her at a public reading, suggested that she be commissioned an ode to the unity of the country ahead of the inauguration ceremony.
