A 33-year-old man was killed Wednesday with a bullet in the head in a city of Marseille, we learned from the prosecution.

The facts occurred shortly before 4 p.m., in the city of Bricarde, in the northern districts of the city.

The victim had a criminal record but "nothing very significant," said Marseille prosecutor Dominique Laurens.

Two men killed on Saturday night

In early December, a 41-year-old man was beaten to death and found in a stairwell of a building in the same city.

Last weekend, two men were killed with assault rifles while filming a clip on a motorway footbridge in another arrondissement of France's second largest city.

Investigators have yet to determine whether Wednesday's murder was a settling of scores.

Eight people died in settlements linked to narco-banditism in 2020 in Marseille, a figure stable compared to the previous year, according to the police.
