God, the king of animals was struck down by an epidemic, and it was "Carnavalovirus, the usurper" who stole his crown!

Deprived of its flagship event this year because of the Covid-19, the city of Nice still wanted to mark the occasion, for Shrove Tuesday, by installing a giant carnival structure on Place Masséna in the form of the nasty microbe.

The tank, representing the virus placed on a piece of the earth, entangled in a mask and planted with a vaccine syringe, will remain visible until February 27, the day of its incineration.

“The reign of the usurper of the world is coming to an end and the planet will soon be totally rid of it, laughs the town hall.

Once defeated, Carnavalovirus will burn, but the Niçois will have first recovered the crown.

"

Entertainment until February 27

Despite the health crisis, the town says it wanted to "bring carnival to life in the hearts of the people of Nice" and "support the activity of carnival riders" through the creation of this structure.

Still until February 27, other events are planned, including the flowering of Place Masséna with mimosa, an exhibition on the Promenade des Anglais or even disguise challenges on social networks.

The Nice Carnival "King of the Animals" is now scheduled for 2022. Normally organized every winter, the event generates nearly 30 million euros in economic benefits.
