Netflix has confirmed the casting of Simone Ashley for the second season of one of its latest cartoons:
The Chronicle of the Bridgertons
.
The star of
Sex Education
will play Kate Sharma, who will not leave indifferent Anthony Bridgerton, the character of Jonathan Bailey.
According to
Variety
, it is on the latter that the second season of the program will focus, based on the second book written by Julia Quinn,
The Viscount Who Loved Me
, or
Anthony
in VF, and on his research - not very enthusiastic - of an ideal wife.
The publication specifies that the character of Simone Ashley will be an independent woman who is not used to being dominated by the social pressure of the London nobility of the 19th century.
Lots of expectations
Netflix is betting heavily on this second season of
The Bridgertons
, which the platform presents as its most watched original series.
The main cast of the first season, Regé-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor, became stars overnight.

next weekend, proof that he has entered the big leagues.

should continue to play the diversity card that has made it so successful.
The first season featured black figures in 19th century British high society.
The creator of the series, Chris Van Dusen, explained that he was inspired by the debates around the supposedly African ancestors of Queen Charlotte (Queen Victoria's grandmother).
The second season will be written and shot in the same spirit.
Kate Sharma is of Indian origin according to Deadline which specifies that the characters of Daphne and Simon will take a back seat for this new chapter.
