Good news for French fiction!

Like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, Disney + is embarking on the production of original tricolor programs.

Disney is in the process of developing four original French series, announced Pauline Dauvin, vice-president of the Walt Disney Company France, during a virtual press conference organized this Tuesday on the occasion of the launch of Star on February 23 in which

attended.

On the program, two Disney + Originals series, accessible to all subscribers, two others reserved for Star, the future section of Disney + reserved for adult profiles.

The mini-series of four 52-minute episodes

Oussekine

will revisit the death of Malik Oussekine, who died on December 5, 1986 following an intervention by police officers (acrobats motorcyclists) who beat him.

It will focus on her family's fight to obtain justice and will allow "to understand the impact of this tragedy on French society", according to Pauline Dauvin.

Star will also host a documentary series in six episodes of 35 minutes, produced by Breathe Film (Groupe Elephant) & Only Pro, which will tell how the rapper Soprano became the star everyone knows today from his early steps in the neighborhoods. North of Marseille in the preparation of his new album until his tour of the stadiums to come in the summer of 2022.

The six 45-minute episodes of this series created by Quoc Dang Tran (Marianne, Nox) and co-written by Anastasia Heinzl will be available on Disney +.

Week-end Family, the

second French Disney + Originals series, follows a “super blended” family.

Produced by Eléphant (Sandra Ouaiss, Dorothée Woayez and Nathalie Madjar), this family comedy in 8 episodes of 26 minutes is created by Baptiste Filleul.

The writing is co-directed by Géraldine de Margerie and Nour Ben Salem.

These French series are still only at the development stage.

No casting information or broadcast date could be announced.

These series will first be presented exclusively in France: "We are focusing on the release of these series in France, but it is still a little early to know when they will be broadcast beyond France", explained Pauline Dauvin.
