According to Xinhua News Agency, Hefei (Reporters Liu Meizi, Qu Yan, Shui Jinchen) at 4 am, Hu Yingfu opened the window, and the cold wind mixed with fine snow fell on his face in Hefei at minus 7 degrees Celsius.

"Old man, are you still running today?" Wang Zhangmin got up and put on his clothes.

"Run!" The 84-year-old Hu Yingfu didn't hesitate, put on his outfit, and walked out of the house quickly.

Decades have been like a day. For Hu Yingfu, only when he runs 10 kilometers every morning can his body really wake up.

The 75-year-old Wang Zhangmin also followed his wife out.

Hu Yingfu and Wang Zhangmin, retired workers from Hefei, who have been married for 54 years and have a combined age of 159, participated in more than one hundred marathons nationwide.

In the early years, the husband and wife were often troubled by diseases.

Wang Zhangmin had poor gastrointestinal conditions and often vomited and diarrhea. Hu Yingfu suffered from severe gastroptosis and bronchitis.

Inspired by friends, Wang Zhangmin started running to exercise.

It was like using the most appropriate "prescription", the two saw an unexpected and pleasant "curative effect".

After a while, Wang Zhangmin felt that the old problem seemed to "run" away from her.

Driven by his wife, Hu Yingfu, who had just retired, also started running in 1997, and he recovered from the gastroptosis that had plagued him for many years.

In 2004, the then 58-year-old Wang Zhangmin participated in the 1500m competition of the National Veteran Track and Field Games and won fourth place.

From then on, as long as there is a long-distance race, the couple will participate.

In 2011, the old couple participated in the Shanghai International Marathon for the first time. Hu Yingfu, 74, just halfway through the race, both toes had blood, and he gritted his teeth and finished the race.

For the first time to complete 42.195 kilometers, Hu Yingfu's score was 4 hours and 18 minutes.

"Everything has a process. After running a few times, I start to find fun, especially the sense of accomplishment after running." Hu Yingfu said.

Over the years, the couple have left almost every marathon track in the country, and the medals they won are difficult to calculate for a while.

But in their hearts, running out of health, running out of confidence, and running out of happiness are the motivations for persistence.

"When I was in my 70s, I was basically the top three in the age group, and young people might not be able to run past me." In Hu Yingfu's view, no matter what age, the marathon spirit to fight to the end is indispensable.

Outside of the game, they ran 10 kilometers almost every morning, leaving behind two people in large and small parks and playgrounds in Hefei.

Meeting friends by running, but also let life penetrate more light.

Through the "window" of running a marathon, they made friends from all over the world.

The 52-year-old Wang Hongcai is the vice president of the Hefei Marathon Association. He started running the marathon with the encouragement of Hu Yingfu and his wife.

"I used to be 190 kilograms, but now I only have 130 kilograms. Running has cured my high blood pressure after taking medicine for 3 years."

It is the wish of Hu Yingfu and Wang Zhangmin to give play to the power of role models, pass on the spirit of national fitness, and drive more people to exercise together.

“In the past, there were only dozens of people in the Hefei Equestrian Association. Now there are four to five thousand people. The weekly running activities have been held for 193 periods.” Wang Hongcai said.

At five o'clock in the morning, after returning from a morning run, Wang Zhangmin began to prepare breakfast for his wife.

After a while, a boiled egg, a cup of milk with honey and a bowl of hot beef noodles were put on the table.

"I changed my tricks every day to make him breakfast, tofu, soy milk, beef..." Wang Zhangmin said while busy in the kitchen, "I am in my 80s and run 10,000 meters a day. I am afraid that he will not eat better. Nutrition cannot keep up with the body’s consumption."

In 2017, Hu Yingfu and his wife ran the Beijing Marathon to celebrate their golden wedding. The organizer specially prepared an exclusive "love number" for them.

"I sprained my foot a month before running, but I thought that it was the golden wedding of my wife and I, or his 80th birthday, so I gritted my teeth and limped the whole way." Wang Zhangmin recalled.

"Life is a marathon", the calligraphy on the wall is Hu Yingfu's favorite sentence. The marathon witnessed his and his wife being in the same boat, supporting each other in the process and running hand in hand to the end.

When asked how deep the love for the other half was, the old couple became a little shy.

"Running a marathon will stretch for 42.195 kilometers of love." Hu Yingfu also set himself a goal-to become the world's oldest marathon participant. He said: "As long as the heart is still beating, you must keep running."
