“I am there as me, and as the daughter of a pedophile, of a monster in the current sense of the word.

And when you are the daughter of a monster, you inevitably wonder if you are a monster yourself.

It's an almost automatic process ”.

This Monday morning on France Inter, Audrey Pulvar agreed to return with strong emotion, on the accusations of pedocriminality targeting her father Marc Pulvar, a figure of Martinican unionism who died in 2008. She notably explained that she was not there "to respond to [ his] detractors ”, who wonders about his silence for a week, but being“ there to talk about the victims ”.

“If I have been silent for eight days, it is because I found it important that they can express themselves.

But here in Paris, it is not the Marc Pulvar affair, it is not the words of the victims that we have heard, it is my name that has been highlighted, ”she continues.

"These memories have been locked in my brain for 25 years"

These victims are three of these cousins, who accuse Marc Pulvar of having abused them when they were children.

“When they spoke to their parents twenty years ago, and the latter spoke to my mother, who spoke to me and my sisters, they spoke to be heard, listened to, and believed,” explains Audrey Pulvar.

And 20 years ago, when my mother told me what one of my cousins said, I believed her.

It was in 2002. They were 30 years old, and we're roughly the same age.

I believed them because I am always on the side of the victims, of those who denounce this type of crime.

"

The politician clarified the vagueness in which she herself was immersed.

“I was a child but there were things going on that I felt weren't normal.

There was a climate that I did not understand.

In my memory, when my cousin was 7, we had a fight and she told me "your father, he puts his hand in my panties".

It had paralyzed me, I was 6 years old.

And then, those memories were locked in my brain for 25 years, coming back by flash, without my knowing what it was.

"

"Victims speak to us when they can speak"

Audrey Pulvar also explained why she had not spoken on this subject.

“No, it never occurred to me to denounce my father.

It wasn't for me to do it, and I didn't know I knew.

These things don't happen in 24 hours, it's a bit more complex than that, especially for victims.

I am here to tell all those who think that the action of my cousins would be a political maneuver, either to reach me or to damage the memory of my father, that they are wrong ”, she answers.

Likewise, she spoke of the great difficulty victims have in expressing themselves on this subject, and the time needed for this: “The victims speak to us when they can speak, when the conditions are right for them to have the strength of being able to say them to oneself.

Telling it to your parents, then to a larger circle, takes time.

And when they say it, we must respect this word, we must hear it, we must listen to it, respect it, and not devalue it by questioning it.
