Following the critical and popular success of

Queens

in 2019, Jennifer Lopez looked set to be nominated for the 2020 Oscars in the Best Supporting Actress category.

And yet, the prestigious academy did not retain the performance of the actress and singer who, at the time, had preferred to chomp on the brakes and move on.

But in a recent interview with

Allure

, the artist admits to having taken the thing wrong.

“I was talking about it the other day.

(My production partner) Elaine (Goldsmith-Thomas) had made a post listing all the things I've been nominated for during this season.

And when it came to the Oscars, the absence was obvious.

It stung, ”recalled Jennifer Lopez.

But looking back, the star realized that this frustration didn't make much sense.

A beautiful lesson

“I was like, 'Okay, when you're supposed to be on everyone's mind and supposed to be named and you're not, what does that mean?

Is it really real?

Are the other nominations real and not this one? ”

And I got to a point where I was like, “That's not what I'm doing this for.

I'm not doing this to have 10 Oscars on my mantel or 20 Grammys, ”Jennifer Lopez recalls to herself.
