After finding five bodies in a residential building in Radevormwald, the police assume a homicide within the family.

According to previous investigations, the father of the family killed his wife, the two one and four year old daughters and his 77 year old mother-in-law.

The police announced this on Saturday afternoon.

The identification service had started work on Friday evening.

According to a dpa photographer, forensic agents and fire investigators were on site.

The site of the accident was cordoned off over a large area.

The fire brigade extinguished the fire and moved back after a two-hour fire-fighting operation, said a fire brigade spokesman.

The scene of the fire had been handed over to the police.
