On the occasion of the New Year of the Year of the Ox, UN Secretary-General Guterres issued a video speech celebrating the Chinese New Year, wishing prosperity, health and happiness to all those who have the tradition of celebrating the Chinese New Year.
"Happy Chinese New Year!" Guterres blessed and said in Chinese, "This year is the year of the ox, and I am also the ox. The ox symbolizes energy, strength and courage, and these qualities are what the world needs today."
Guterres said that last year, the new crown pandemic brought great uncertainty and destruction.
In 2021, we must work together to fight the virus, take climate action and achieve a strong recovery from the pandemic.
