While the Minister of Culture recently affirmed that she was “preparing for the fastest possible reopening” of museums and monuments, Nantes is already in the starting blocks.

This Thursday, the mayor of Nantes Johanna Rolland (PS) announced that she was volunteering for her city to experiment with the reopening "of a number of major cultural places", with the establishment of a new health protocol.

She also directly communicated this request to Emmanuel Macron, who was traveling to the City of the Dukes on Thursday.

"I insisted on this question of culture with the president," says Johanna Rolland.

It is a subject which becomes painful for all, artists, institutions… The president confirmed to me to think about this reopening and welcomed my proposal positively.

It's not for me to give you details on the schedule, however… ”

Partial reopening, for example to schools

For the mayor of Nantes, a first step could be to reopen certain museums under certain conditions.

“We have a network of quality museums, with space in some of them.

A reopening for example to schools, under very strict sanitary conditions, could be a first breath of fresh air, ”she thinks.

In recent days, petitions and concrete proposals are piling up on the desk of Minister Roselyne Bachelot.

Museums in particular are asking for a rapid reopening, at least partially.
