The snowy episode expected in Ile-de-France will seriously complicate travel in the region.

The school bus service is thus suspended this Wednesday in four departments: Yvelines, Essonne, Val-d'Oise and Seine-et-Marne, said the academy of Versailles and the prefectures.

Accumulations of 2 to 7 cm of snow, even locally up to 10 cm, are expected in the Paris region overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Distance learning will therefore be “privileged” in Yvelines, Essonne and Val-d'Oise on Wednesday, but a minimum welcome will be provided in each establishment for students who have no solution.

🔶36 departments are now in #VigilanceOrange for risks of:

🌧️ #Crues

🌨️ #NeigeVerglas

🧊 #GrandFroid.

In addition, the N118, one of the main black spots in Ile-de-France during bad weather, was closed to all users from 9 p.m. Tuesday, added the prefecture.

The authorities' objective is not to relive the dysfunctions of February 2018. At that time, 950 vehicles, or nearly 2,000 people, had been blocked by snow and had to spend the night on this road that links Les Ulis ( Essonne) south-west of Paris.

The circulation of heavy goods vehicles of more than 7.5 tonnes has also been prohibited since 8 p.m. Tuesday on the main roads of Ile-de-France.
