On the other hand, female suicides have increased from last year for eight consecutive months.

According to the National Police Agency, the number of people who committed suicide last month was 1,646 nationwide, a decrease of 2.4% by 40 compared to the same period last year.

By gender, the number of males decreased by 5.7% to 1121, while the number of females was 525, an increase of 5.6%.



Women's suicide has been above the previous year for eight consecutive months since June last year.

The number of people who committed suicide in the last year was 20,919, an increase of 3.7% compared to the previous year, and has started to increase since 2009 immediately after the Lehman shock.



The national government is analyzing the impact of the spread of the new coronavirus and is strengthening various measures in collaboration with private organizations.
