Garrett Camp, one of Uber's co-founders, has started a new company called Aero, report

and

.

It is an airline offering trips in luxury semi-private jets.

The first flight took place last week from Van Nuys Airport in Hollywood (Los Angeles) to Aspen, Colorado, one of the most famous ski resorts in the United States.

Aero is not aimed at just any audience.

The 1.50 hour flight costs its passengers $ 990 (about 816 euros), compared to $ 341 for a similar route offered by American Airlines.

But the attention paid to customers and the level of comfort of the planes are obviously not the same.

16 seats maximum

Aero promises to make its customers fly “smarter and safer”.

For this, the company has semi-private jets that do not have more than 16 seats.

The ambiance in the cabin is neat with 'plush interiors' featuring suede walls, 'fine art lighting' and hand-stitched Italian leather seats.

To avoid making its customers wait, Aero also has its own private terminals at airports.

“We may have built the perfect product for Covid-19,” Uma Subramanian, CEO of Aero, told

.

A negative test is nevertheless essential before boarding and wearing a mask remains compulsory.

The company intends to soon offer other destinations across the United States before targeting, why not, international connections.
