As the criminal law was amended to change the requirements for sexual offenses or discussions were underway, citizen groups seeking amendments requested the Ministry of Justice to punish sexual acts without consent.

In the trials over sexual violence, acquittals have been made one after another, and the Ministry of Justice set up a study group last year to discuss whether to change the requirements of the criminal law according to the actual situation of sexual damage.

On the 10th, 60,000 signatures were submitted to the Ministry of Justice, and Tokyo Kasumigaseki held a press conference, saying that sexual activity without consent should be subject to punishment by citizen groups seeking law revisions.

The group claims that the current criminal law requires that it could not be resisted by assault or intimidation, which is not the case.

At the press conference, Kazuko Ito, a member of a civic group, said, "I'm worried that the discussion will end without the thoughts of the victims of sex crimes being conveyed when I see the discussions at the study group. It is necessary to amend the law for that purpose. "
