The Solidays festival cancels its 2021 edition due to the Covid-19 epidemic, announces the organizing association Solidarité Sida in a press release.

We no longer have time to wait. "The Solidarité Sida association announced on Wednesday the cancellation of the Solidays festival for the second year in a row, due to the Covid-19 epidemic." We no longer want to feed the hope without being sure of anything ", explains the organization in a press release." We no longer have time to wait for a reassuring vaccination rate, or the hypothetical establishment of a health passport, or the happy day when we will be able to find a little 'normality' in our lives. "The festival, mixing for three days concerts, conferences, artistic performances and militant expressions, has been taking place at the Hippodrome Paris Longchamps since 1999.

Without visibility into the future, the association for the fight against AIDS has chosen to prioritize the search for funds to guarantee the missions of the association and the future of the 114 HIV prevention and fight programs, present in a twenty countries.

Solidarité Sida estimates the shortfall at 3.5 million euros this year, due to the cancellation of the event.

"Our primary commitment is to those living with HIV who, across the world, rely on us to defend their rights, alleviate their suffering or ease their daily lives," the statement said.

A TV night in June

Solidarité Sida calls on public partners and private companies to maintain their contributions to the festival to contribute to the fight and prevention against HIV.

Especially since festival-goers will not be able to donate their tickets this year, as the ticket office could not open.

In order to "find complementary solutions", the association plans a televised evening in June as well as a celebration "differently" of youth and solidarity on the weekend when the festival was to be held (from June 18 to 20) .
