On Valentine's Day, the Yamaguchi Red Cross Blood Center is conducting a campaign to donate chocolate to people who donated blood, calling for cooperation in blood donation.

According to the Yamaguchi Red Cross Blood Center, the number of people who donate blood tends to decrease in winter every year, so we carry out a campaign to present chocolates every year on Valentine's Day.

From the morning, office workers and students visited the center to donate blood and received chocolates from the staff.

This year, colorful chocolates were prepared jointly devised by an idol group based in the prefecture and a vocational school student aiming for a pastry chef.

According to the center, the number of venues for receiving mobile blood collection vehicles has decreased compared to the previous year due to the influence of the new coronavirus, but Yamaguchi Prefecture has secured the required amount of blood at this point.

A man who helped donate blood said, "I think it's easy to come to this event. I want to continue to donate blood."

"I think blood donation is a high hurdle, so I'd be happy if it could be an opportunity for people to cooperate," said Takuro Komasu, director of the Prefectural Red Cross Blood Center.

This campaign will run until the 14th of this month.
