[New Year Chronicle] Taiwanese students celebrating New Year in Shandong: Manually add new year flavor to drive away loneliness

[Explanation] Post the Spring Festival couplets and the Chinese characters, stock up on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Eve snacks, make appointments with family and friends for the video time of the New Year’s Eve dinner... February 9th, Taiwanese students Liu Yucheng and Zheng Yuxin studying at Shandong University for their stay in the mainland On the first Spring Festival, manually add a new year flavor to drive away loneliness.

[Explanation] Liu Yucheng, from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, has become one of the many Taiwanese students staying in the mainland for the New Year due to the requirements of the cross-strait epidemic prevention and isolation time.

Liu Yucheng dressed up the dormitory with spring couplets and blessings, hoping to make the dormitory full of the New Year flavor, so as to comfort himself who stayed alone in the dormitory.

I bought some couplets and blessings and posted them in the dormitory. Although I did not celebrate the New Year at home, it still gave the dorm a little New Year atmosphere.

Generally, when celebrating the New Year at home, we Kaohsiung people usually set fireworks on the top floor or balcony of our home.

During the New Year, when the temple is usually open, there will be a person who rushes in and puts the first incense stick. It is said that that person's luck and fortune will be the most prosperous.

[Explanation] Liu Yucheng's younger brother also stayed in Zhengzhou, Henan, 500 kilometers away, for the Spring Festival this year.

For safety reasons, his parents agreed that he and his younger brother would stay in the mainland for the New Year.

In order to alleviate the suffering of missing hometown and relatives, Liu Yucheng and his younger brother often make video calls and make fun of each other.

When Liu Yucheng was on a video call with his younger brother that day, he saw that his younger brother who had not gotten up by noon was sleepy, and Liu Yucheng inevitably "beated".

Apart from me this year, there is also my brother who has not returned to Taiwan for the New Year. He is at Zhengzhou University.

I will video and play games with my brother, so that I can avoid missing some things in my hometown and my life will become more colorful.

[Explanation] Zheng Yuxin, who left home for the first time for the New Year, is Liu Yucheng's hometown, and both are from Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Girls who stay thousands of miles away to celebrate the New Year alone will inevitably become a concern for their families.

On New Year’s Eve, Zheng Yuxin plans to order some of her favorite foods on the takeaway platform, and video with family members and eating New Year’s Eve dinner in the air, so she is no longer alone.

Talking about the New Year's Eve dinner in her hometown, she said that the way of eating dumplings in Kaohsiung is different from that in Jinan. The whole family will prepare rice cakes, grilled fish and other New Year dishes, and pray for a fortune in the coming year and a surplus every year.

The New Year we eat over there seems to be different from what we eat here. It seems to eat dumplings here, but we don’t have dumplings here in Taiwan. We prefer hot pot, roast chicken, roast duck, and (and) some steamed rice. , Is the hair cake, it is a flower-shaped, a rice cake similar to it, symbolizing that this year will send hair.

[Commentary] When the reporter asked Zheng Yuxin if she had a New Year's resolution, she wrote it down in her notebook, hoping that the epidemic will pass quickly so that everyone can return home and meet the people they want to meet.

I hope people all over the world can live healthy and happy New Year's wishes.

The outbreak of the epidemic last year made it impossible for many people to reunite with their families. I hope that the epidemic will get better soon so that everyone can return to their hometown to meet the people they want.

Everyone is very healthy, and there is no need to panic like this anymore, and nothing can be done.

After the epidemic has passed, everyone's mood will become better, and I think the whole world will become much better.

[Explanation] The Spring Festival is approaching. The Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Jinan City has issued the "Proposal for Compatriots from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao to Stay in Economics for the New Year" through its website, WeChat, client and other channels, advocating for compatriots from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao to reduce their long trips and stay in economics for the New Year.
