Halfway down the mountain, under the cover of a few fir trees, there is a house with green paint and white walls. This is the village clinic. The simple rooms have to satisfy the daily diagnosis and treatment of more than 500 villagers in the village.

Wu Guangchao is the only village doctor in this clinic.

Going through the streets to inquire about illness, leaving early and returning to the clinic at night, the young guy who came out of the semi-agricultural and semi-medical study class in 1966 has now become a spirited old man.

　　We didn’t have enough medical knowledge at the beginning, one in each village (village doctor study quota), we trained for two years, and then I went to Jiande Hospital to study for one year. After entering, my grades were relatively good. Our teacher is the dean said , Dr. Wu, you can stay in Jiande Hospital. At that time, I (said) it was not good. I belonged to the collective village. I paid the collective money (trained). The people in the village need a doctor. I can’t stay here. I Go back home and serve the common people.

　　[Explanation] To serve the common people, Wu Guangchao insisted on a simple promise for 55 years.

The world outside the village is changing with each passing day, but in Wu Guangchao's drawer, a small tin money box fixed the consultation fee at one yuan in 1983 forever.

To this day, villagers who come to Wu Guangchao to see a doctor still only need one dollar.

The crisp ringing of coins was a silent understanding between Wu Guangchao and the villagers.

　　Many people have closed their doors for medical treatment, but I still insist on staying here.

We used to be more than 50 in Gantang (training class village doctor), but now there are only three people left (in insistence).

They all changed their careers to change the old ones and walk away.

They just said that we are still alive, and let us use our residual heat (just fine).

In the early decades (villagers) came to see the doctor, and (seeing the doctor) was 5 cents, 1 cent, and 5 cents.

Later, it was converted into one yuan. In 1983, it was actually (only changed) one yuan. After 1983, it seemed that the cost of medicine had risen and the village became more sick. The village subsidized part of the subsidy (medicine fee), and subsidized 8,000 yuan a year.

Now the government subsidizes the village, and the village subsidizes me.

　　[Explanation] For most of his life, he stayed on the front line of the country, not seeking self-interest, and sometimes he had to pay for it out of his own pocket. Many neighbors in the same town didn't understand Wu Guangchao's approach, and even thought he was stupid, but only Wu Guangchao knew in his heart that he kept a clear account.

　　Many people told me: "You doctor is stupid", but I am not "stupid". I am so stupid to the common people, and good to the common people.

Wu Guangchao knew the old problems of each family by heart.

But the 76-year-old Wu Guangchao is getting old, and even going up the mountain to collect medicine has become a difficult task. In his own words, "I always remember that even if I can't do it, I still can't let the villagers go."

　　Great changes have been made (in recent years). The digestive tract problems have disappeared. Diabetes and hypertension have increased. They are more than 80 years old and more than 90 years old, 96 and 94 years old in the neighboring village. He must find me, which one is not Okay, we have to inform him that I will take blood pressure in a few days. I have a medical record of hypertension and diabetes. I will definitely serve the people of Meitang Village in Meitang, and the people welcome me.

The government trusted me, and I continued to do it until I couldn't do it.

But I hope someone will come to take my class. It is best for my son to come back. My son is a dentist.

But it is better to have college students.

(But) the problem of college students coming here to eat, the problem of marriage, the problem of housing, can not be kept.

It is best to be a retired doctor from a rural area, who are (people) like us, born and raised, and can be retained.
