The city of Vendôme (Loir-et-Cher) has just handed over the use of its name to the LVMH group.

An authorization for luxury jewelry products.

The decision was voted on Thursday in city council.

The city and the luxury group have agreed on the sum of 10,000 euros, reports France 3 Center-Val-de-Loire.

For the mayor (UDI), Laurent Brillard, it is a “partnership” between his city and the group owned by Bernard Arnault.

“This is good news, which shows that LVMH continues to invest in Vendôme,” added the city councilor.

Two elected officials oppose

This proposal met little opposition during the vote in the city council, where only two elected officials present voted against.

For Florent Grospart, environmental advisor, this is a

“Cut-to-size sale” of the identity of his city.

"This is not a temporary sale, a license, or an operating agreement but a definitive transfer to a very large multinational for ... 10,000 euros", he lamented. on social networks.

The mayor, for his part, relies above all on good understanding with this group and thus hopes to perpetuate the installation of several workshops, established since 2018. In December 2019, LVMH had promised the installation of a second factory and the creation of " a thousand jobs ”eventually.

A way to counterbalance the effects of the economic crisis linked to Covid-19, from which the city has suffered in particular with layoffs already announced at Thales or at Bosch.
