After the death of a 19-year-old in the Weser in the Lower Saxony district of Nienburg, the trial against two men and a woman began on Monday before the Verden district court.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the three German defendants, aged 40, 53 and 39, of murder, forced prostitution and other criminal offenses.

According to the indictment, the two men induced the young woman to prostitute from the beginning of April 2020.

They are said to have exploited the personal predicament of the 19-year-old because the woman suffered from paranoid schizophrenia.

When the men realized that the woman could not be a prostitute because of her state of health, they are said to have locked up the 19-year-old and mistreated her.

In order to cover up their crimes, according to the indictment, they forged a plan together with the accused 39-year-old to get rid of their victim.

She is said to have tied the naked 19-year-old on a concrete slab.

The two men or all three defendants are said to have pushed the 19-year-old into the Weser on April 9, 2020, where she drowned.

The body was found in the area of the lock canal near Balge in the Nienburg district.
