After the detonation of an explosive device in a Berlin courtyard last week, nine ignitable pipe bombs were found in the apartment of the main suspect.

The attorney general's office obtained an arrest warrant against the 29-year-old, as the authority announced on Monday.

A pipe bomb exploded in the explosion last Tuesday.

Another bomb that was deposited next to the first did not detonate.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

A resident alerted the police on Tuesday evening after hearing a loud bang.

The 29-year-old prime suspect then tried to escape from the house but was arrested by police.

Another man was in the prime suspect's home but he refused to open the door.

Officials from a special task force then stormed the apartment and temporarily arrested the 27-year-old.

However, he has since been released.

The police are continuing to check whether there is a connection to an explosion on January 20 in the area and whether there is political motivation behind the bombing, said police chief Barbara Slowik on Monday in the interior committee of the House of Representatives.

The police have not yet confirmed media reports that the suspect comes from the left-wing extremist spectrum.

The AfD parliamentary group in the Bundestag criticized the suspect working for two left-wing initiatives and advice centers that campaign against right-wing extremism and racism.

One of the initiatives was unavailable on Monday.
