Saxony's Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer has contradicted Chancellor Angela Merkel (both CDU) with a view to easing the Corona rules.

While federal policy is dampening hopes for the loosening of lockdowns, Kretschmer held in an interview with the “Leipziger Volkszeitung” on Sunday that careful openings were responsible.

“As soon as the infection process allows, the kindergartens should first open and the primary school children should be able to go to schools again.

This is how we will organize it in Saxony and I think it is right for all of Germany. "

The next conference of the prime ministers with Merkel on the corona rules will take place on Wednesday.

Merkel recently refused to relax the lockdown and asked people to "hold out for a while".

Kretschmer, on the other hand, said: "I do not share the opinion that we cannot loosen anything at all." He considers openings to be entirely responsible if the steps are manageable.

In addition to the education sector, initial simplifications could be made in retail - for example, for the collection of ordered goods in certain time windows - and the opening of hairdressers.

After that, however, the infection process must be observed for three weeks before one can talk about further loosening.

“There are still a few tough weeks ahead of us.

We must not lose our nerve now and contribute to even more uncertainty in the population through unnecessary arguments, ”said Kretschmer.
