Dajiu Lake is the largest area in Central China, the longest sedimentation, and a well-preserved subtropical subalpine peat swamp wetland. It is a natural storage reservoir for the middle route of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project.
Its unique wetland ecosystems such as subalpine meadows, sphagnum moss swamps and cattail swamps are typical, representative, rare and specific among Chinese wetlands, and have extremely important protection, scientific research and utilization values.
