Both houses offer products under the name "Carrera", the racing driver Joe Siffert was a Porsche dealer and a friend of Jack Heuer, Steve McQueen wore the watch manufacturer's logo on his racing overalls when he was behind the wheel of his Porsche in the film "Le Mans" sat.

So it is no wonder that Porsche board member Detlev von Plate said at the presentation of the partnership between the two companies that at least the public has naturally brought the two companies together for around 50 years.

The cooperation is now to be significantly expanded once again.

It starts with a special version of Tag Heuer's recently thoroughly renovated “Carrera” classic: the “Carrera Porsche Chronograph Special Edition 44 mm Caliber Heuer 02 Automatic”.

She and Tag Heuer boss Frédéric Arnault presented von Plate online together.

An automatic manufacture caliber with an 80-hour power reserve works in its massive stainless steel case.

The model combines modern micromechanics with design elements that are clearly reminiscent of the Porsche 911.

The winding rotor of the movement has the shape of the steering wheel.

The applied hour digits are modeled on those on the sports car's dashboard; the rough-textured dial is asphalt gray.

The red accents include the Porsche lettering on the ceramic bezel.

The watch is optionally available with a steel or leather strap, the leather version is reminiscent of the interior of a 911 with the decorative stitching made by hand. The co-branding is consistently continued with the box and the travel case that is also included

Overall, the sporty look ensures that the partnership has a face.

During the digital presentation, Frédéric Arnault made it clear that it would by no means stay with the one watch, the collaboration is long-term.

Among other things, his manufacture wants to take care of the motorsport activities of the Zuffenhausen-based company.

The joint commitment to Formula E with its electrically powered racing cars means that both traditional companies have opened up to electronic products and could also cooperate there.

And last but not least, anyone who looks over the edge of the racetrack knows that Tag Heuer, with its golf-loving watches, and Porsche, as the host of golf tournaments, are ideal sports fans in other areas too.

At the Stuttgart Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, Tag Heuer will in future be the official timepiece and watch partner.

The launch is a signal for the market: The steel watch business is currently booming not only in Germany - and the Swiss are ready to continue fueling this field together with a major cooperation partner.

The model presented now is likely to have been noticed by the competition.
